My groups dueling Mandate was, Winter use and the Mandate was that Old Faithful is a really popular place to visit in the summer and the winter in the winter .The only access is by snowmobile or snow coach ,which is a large tracked vehicle . The concerns are : overcrowding , visitor impact on natural resources ,noise and air pollution , availability of facilitates and services ,use restrictions ,user group conflicts ,importance of winter visitation to the local and regional economy, wildlife use of groomed surfaces , wildlife displacement ,and health and human safety .So the dilemma is : How do you balance the park’s dual mandates of preserving park the parks resources while allowing access for the enjoyment of the people. My favorite solution to this was that you require that certified guides accompany all snow mobile users to help enforce the regulations ,such as traveling on groomed roads only .One pro was there would be more rules to help with accidents ,a con was that there would be more overpopulation instructors =+ people. But, another pro would be less accidents [ monators] also a con would be + more upset people [ if there isn’t enough people to guide all of them]. The last thing is that there would be less littering on roads [ if they were groomed] . The last con would be more people getting upset [ if you had to groom roads and guide ] [ workers ].Our solution to this was that just to make sure you have enough people to do each job . Let me expand what I mean is just try viewing them as two different jobs not one . So that the workers don’t get overwhelmed .
